My mission to save the face started last year around this time when it seemed that over night my nasolabial lines appeared quite prominantly on my face. Being a "newbie" to skin care, I was totally freaked out and had my own mini mid-life crisis so-to-speak ......I wasn't sure what was happening or why, but I am sure the stresses I had been through over the prior few years didn't help matters much.
My search led me over to the EDS forum and quite frankly my skin has now never looked better sans this droopy cheek problem. It was not until earlier this spring however, after I improved my texture, tone and fine lines, that I realized my major problem was due to sagging in the mid-face and loss of volume. It has caused my NL's, marionettes and the extended tear troughs and crinkles under my eyes....It was then I sought out the advice of a professional and he recommended either cheek implants or a mid-face lift.
Being only 38 (39 in December) I guess my question is, how young is too young for plastic surgery? I don't take this matter lightly, seriously I don't, which is why I sought out the advice of a local surgeon whom strictly deals with the face and only the face nothing else. Face creams, potions and lotions are one thing, but when you start dealing on the surgical end of things it's a whole new ballgame. I myself would opt for the mid-face and not the implants....I want a natural look, not something that looks foreign to my body.
I am also considering a dermal filler in my cheeks at the moment to fill in some of that volume loss. I am a big fan of fillers and have had it in my NL's and marionettes. I will most definitely give the fillers a try prior to my lift as perhaps this will ward off the need of the lift for a few years.
I just want others thoughts as to the appropriate age they think plastic surgery would be most beneficial, is there really an appropriate age if there are concerns to be addressed?....I don't want to have something done too early, I guess that is my major hesitation.
