My grandmother is an amazing woman. She is 105 and looks like she is 80. She walks a mile every day no matter what the weather and uses a cane. She believes that the reason she is so young still is because she makes herself potato peelings soup every three days and has a cup or two every evening. It's a ritual for her and my father always says that she would give up the ghost if she couldn't make her soup. I think the ritual is very, very important. At night, she washes her face with Ivory soap and then rubs an apple slice all over it. No moisturizer. Her face glows from within. It never dawned on me until recently that apples contain malic acid, which is a mild exfoliant.

Interesting you should mention apples. I was just reading an article on skin products that are implementing substances found in apples in their ingredients with great results. I think you should consider granny way ahead of her time!

Were they Granny Smiths? ;D ;D ;D Couldn't resist that!
What a great story, Willows. All that is old is new again, my mum used to say. Malic acid is a fruit acid so it would be a mild exfoliant and a lot cheaper than cream form. Perhaps an apple a day keeps the doctor away and wrinkles at bay.
